Puskás Collection on display in Kolozsvár this summer

13 Oct. 2016.

Kolozsvár residents and visitors were able to see an incredible array of football memorabilia earlier this summer when an exhibition was opened showcasing some of the Puskás collection. Thanks to the organisers of the Kolozsvár Hungarian Days event and the Puskás Institute, people were able to view the collection in the Hungarian Olympic Court on Szentegyház street for the duration of the 2016 Olympic Games taking place on the other side of the world in Rio de Janeiro.

Highlights of the display include a blue Real Madrid away jersey worn by Ferenc Puskás which he would have worn on more than one occasion. "In those days they didn't produce shirts for only one match", confirmed György Szöllösi, Puskás' official biographer and Editor-in-Chief of FourFourTwo magazine who, alongside journalist Miklós Boros, spoke about the life of the great football at the opening of the exhibition (source: www.kronika.ro).

Puskás Institute Director Gusztáv Mravik gave further details on Puskás' blue Real Madrid shirt. "The jersey belongs to the Real Madrid Foundation which loaned it to the Puskás Institute for one year. The Puskás exhibition was first held in Madrid three years ago when the Spanish club held a series of events entitled 'Puskás Weeks' and thereafter the exhibition moved to Athens in Greece and then the English National Football Museum in Manchester where over 300,000 people visited it in under half a year".
