Ferenc Puskás Memorial Plaque

For the one-year anniversary of Puskás’ passing, the Ministry of Defence placed a memorial plaque on one of the walls of the Hungarian Football Federation building as a mark of respect.

The memorial plaque from the Ministry of Defence was unveiled on December 7th 2006, two days shy of the one-year anniversary of the funeral of Ferenc Puskás and bears Puskás’ nickname ”Öcsi”. Present at the unveiling were Mrs. Ferenc Puskás while speeches were forthcoming from the Defence Minister and the President of the Hungarian Football Federation during which it could be heard, amongst other things, how Hungarian people could be proud of Puskás even if they couldn’t be proud of the time in which he lived.
